FAQs

Being on the WICS Committee is a great way to get involved, meet people, and grow your leadership skills. Committee members gain valuable experience in networking, event planning, and project management, and work closely with company representatives and other ICS clubs throughout the year. It’s also an amazing resume booster that shows initiative, teamwork, and leadership to future employers and grad programs.

On average, committee members spend about 3+ hours a week on meetings and tasks, though time can pick up a bit before big events. Committee members are expected to take part in WICS events throughout the year to stay engaged and contribute to the community, with the exception of classes (don’t worry, classes always come first!).

Main Initiatives and Events

Mock Technical Interviews in the Winter quarter that involves having mock technical interviews with real company engineers.
WICS Games where students and company representatives come together for a night of friendly competition, learning, and prizes!
Weekly General Meetings that are a mix of social and professional events for members to learn, connect, and have fun!
Year-long Mentorship Program where we pair experienced upperclassmen with mentees to build community and grow together (and make a competition out of it too!).
Through Community Outreach, we inspire the next generation by teaching computer science and engineering concepts in local schools using fun tools like littleBits and app jams.
